It's Complicated

“It’s Predictable” is an alternative title for the film It’s Complicated. Now don't get me wrong, sometimes being predictable is a good thing. For example, knowing Meryl Streep will be amazing and Steve Martin will be funny are things we like to know. However, I’d rather not know most of the punch lines from the comical scenes. Unfortunately, the trailers for It’s Complicated reveal the vast majority of the plots, making the movie much "less" complicated.

If you haven’t seen a trailer for the film, it’s a comedy about a love triangle between Jane (Streep), Adam (Martin) and Jane’s ex-husband Jake (Alec Baldwin). Who wins Jane over? Well, you’ll have to see the movie to find out for sure…thank goodness the trailers didn’t totally give it away.

The film is rated R for some drug content and sexuality. Both the drug and sexuality scenes are revealed in ….you guessed it…the previews! So you won’t be surprised by either, but you may still find yourself chuckling.

Often times the holidays are complicated enough, so taking a JOG to It’s Complicated and watching the expected might be just what you need to recover from your holiday seasons.

P.S. Streep is nominated for a Golden Globe for her role in It's Complicated playing Jane. She will be competing against herself for this award on January 17th. Because she's also nominated for her portrayal of Julia Child in the amazing film Julie & Julia (see my review dated Aug. 30, 2009). Playing roles with the first initial “J” turned out pretty good for her this year! Congrats Meryl!
